Renard - I UPDATED MY F-LIST

Renard:

a journey begins. a journey into my “deep”, “dark”, rainbow-vomiting sunshine-drenched dreamworld! the spiritual successor to A PICTURE OF FINN FARTING is on its way! it’s time for the ROBOT BRAINSTRONAUT BLASTOFF. around this time last year, Pendleton Ward gave me an image of Finn blasting a fart with the guiding words “POOP BUTT FART” written beside it as a prompt for the album i was about to start producing. this year, Andy Ristaino, lead Adventure Time character designer, has done the same. what better way to represent a ROBOT BRAINSTRONAUT BLASTOFF than to conduct a rocket-fueled journey into oneself with ridiculous electronic production, taking the piss out of and mashing together everything i adore. thanks for the guidance, Andy!

Kung Fu Lemon - Double Jump

Melodic electro-house fun from yours truly. Actually made this quite a while ago.

Unfortunately there are horrible compression artifacts courtesy of soundcloud… Oh well, what can ya do?

Balthazaar - The Prophecy

A very interesting neuro tune. Very unique. So fucking tense.

Turn it up.

Noisia - Tommy’s Theme - Mau5trap

Noisia’s latest banger, and boy oh boy doses it bang. The bouncy pizzicato strings are absolutely perfect. The drums are stylistically perfect and are, like all Noisia drums, absurdly powerful. The melodies, basslines and chord progressions are so simple and catchy… But somehow this track, for me, is really moving… I’m really surprised about using that word to describe Noisia track, but there is something subtly emotional about this, which is hard to pull off with this sort electronica. I remember getting a similar feeling when listening to The Tide (or even Spor’s Pacifica) for the first time.

The only thing that bugs me, is the bass. It has that fantastic dirty but clean feel to it, and has a beautiful tone, but I think it’s slightly too dry. I don’t think I’ve ever disliked anything about a Noisia bass before… :S

All that aside, this is an obnoxiously powerful piece that even alone in my bedroom is making me aggressively tap my foot and wildly wave my arms about. I can only imagine what this would do to people in a club. Another great release from my favorite producers.

Skaul - Smooth Lilac

This piece put a massive smile on my face. Chill as all hell, and groovy… oh, so groovy.
